Grow Amaranth

Why Should I Grow Amaranth?

Amaranth is a native American food crop. It was a primary food source for the Inca, Maya, and Aztec civilizations.  Amaranth grows like a grain but it’s actually a seed. Amaranth is extremely nutritious and also delicious. It’s gluten free, high in protein and fiber, and it contains all the essential amino acids. You can actually live on nothing but Amaranth, which makes it a great food crop to include in your permaculture garden and in your diet. It also reduces cholesterol and inflammation, aids in weight loss, and has many other benefits.

Rotating in some Amaranth is also excellent for soil health. It’s not just a great food to eat but also a great food to grow.
